Putting a smile on your kids faces

Tonight  I made lasagna for dinner. As I was layering it together I got to thinking. How can I put a smile on the kids face without much time on hand. I then fig why not make them dessert. So I made gluten free apple cinnamon muffins. kids came inside and said mmmmmm something smells yummy. Right there I knew I got their attention. I made them eat dinner first then I showed them what else I made them. Their eyes opened wide with a sparkle as their smiles went ear to ear.I love how the simple little things make them happy.

It's been awhile!!!!

I am back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned!

Playing games and spending time together.

Playing games is a great way to spend time together, Rather it is a board game, card game, I SPY, hide and seek or many more. Let your imagination run. Whatever happen to capture the flag? Hide and seek in the dark? Don't forget to cover the lights on those light up shoes :). We forget how a simple game can be so fun. I have a closet full of board games and even puzzles. However if you are tight on money you can make your own games. like pick up sticks. Find twigs and either color them or use the different sizes to keep pts. Marbles now those you dont see kids playing any more. even if you don't have money you can go find round pebbles and use them. Kids love using their imaginations. How about good old finger painting. Who said its only for little kids? Its fun for all ages. Get an old sheet and get messy even use your toes:)
these are some great ways to play and spend together that your kids will just love and always remember when there are older. Remember its about taking even 15min and have FUN!

Catching Rain!

When we had the rain fall few weeks ago. I thought what better project then to see how fast and how much rain drops we can catch. within 48 hours we caught a large tupperware bowl full of rain drops. I asks the kids each; "what did they think rain tasted like? How many cups do you think there is in the bowl?" Then I had them tasted the water. Adrien said "it tasted like yummy rain drops." Rebeckha said "it tasted like fresh clean water." Then we counted the water with their cups to see how close they were. Even though their guest were way off they had a blast doing it. they got wet doing this. However, we have the memories of clean fresh yummy rain drops that will last a life time that cost $0.00!

Bake Sales!

Bake sales for different functions can be great for everyone. I had baked 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies, 5 peanut butter cookies, 4 dozen banana nut muffins and 4 dozen blueberry muffins. Not only did i use this time to bake for the bake sale I used this time to spend in the kitchen with my kids. My kids love to get messy and what better way to get messy with sugar. This is a wonderful way to teach kids how to bake, measure, eat healthy and most important how to enjoy time with eachother together. My husband lights up when he comes home to the smell of fresh baked goods. Not only that its a way the kids can show him what they did to help as well.
Now I know some people might not be great bakers or cooks. There are many ways for you to help at bake sales. Example, I made a sign for the girls to hold. You can have your kids help on simple paper or even poster boards.
I am known as a baker and it is something I love to do. However please don't let the word bake sale scare you. There are many ways to enjoy with your time with your kids and their bake sales.
